Tonight, I found these prompts for a word art journal, and I decided that would be a fun thing to start.
The first prompt focuses on happiness, so I did a little doodle of the word and then searched for meaningful quotes. I had music playing in the background, and as I finished up my doodle, a line in one of the songs—“Maker” by Anjimile—caught my attention: “Happiness isn’t your goal.”
If happiness weren’t one of the most common subjects of art and writing, I might’ve tried to ascribe some deeper meaning to the word’s appearance in a song on a randomized playlist. Still, the line stuck with me.
Then, I came across this quote:
“Happiness is not a state to arrive at, but a manner of traveling.” —Margaret Lee Runbeck
Together, the line from the song and this quote comprise a philosophy I could get behind.
