I finished off another tough day at work, and three hours later, I stood around a piano as a pair of coworkers played “Chopsticks” in between sips of beer.
It is not clear whether the piano was for public use.
After work, I had intended to go home and have a quiet medley of self-pity, candles, and Fleabag rewatching. Instead, I bumped into a coworker in the parking lot, and she convinced me to go to the tavern to hang out with over a dozen other coworkers.
On the patio, we talked and drank and laughed, and even as the party started to dwindle, there was no lull in conversation. Fast forward a couple hours, and the last of us took refuge inside—thereby finding the piano.
I’ve had my ups and downs with this place, but I’m fortunate to have these people in my life. It’s nice that The Spontaneity Project is helping me recognize that.
