In October, I purchased a simple folding table that I intended to use as a writing desk. I set it up near the window in my kitchen, surrounded it with candles and plants, and vowed to stop doing all my writing on the couch or in my bed.
By November, it had become a dumping ground for papers that seemed important but left me feeling puzzled about what I should do with them. I continued to write while sitting on the couch—or, worse, not at all.
Around the same time, I bought a file organizer, which sat in the trunk of my car for a couple months before sitting on my kitchen counter for just as long. Today, I finally opened it and put it to use.
Organization—like multitasking—is something that I’ve long pretended to be good at but secretly found challenging. I excel at starting organizational systems in my life, but maintaining them is a different story altogether. I’m hoping I can maintain the system I set up today. Wish me luck!
