Growing up with a musician as a father, I learned to appreciate music at a young age, but aside from a stint in elementary orchestra, I’ve never been a musician myself. I’ve always wanted to be able to play an instrument, but showing discipline in practicing has never been my strong suit.
Case in point: Months ago, I stole borrowed one of my dad’s guitars with the intent to learn to play. Since then, I’ve picked it up once—until tonight.
My dad gave me a beginner’s guitar manual for Christmas, and this evening, I cracked it open. I won’t be joining a band any time soon, but I did start to learn the E string!
